Kaimin, the South Korean-born artist has a limitless vision in today’s digitally enhanced and creativity integrated generation. Kaimin traverses different mediums of creative direction, costume and extravagant fashion design whilst effortlessly crossing cultural boundaries. With the Kaimin brand, she finds her fullest expression through the medium of fabric and the results are defiantly unconventional and daring yet positively sensual. The use of innovative, high-tech materials thrust together elements of subculture and punk into the future resulting in a surreal demeanor. Sensually-supercharged yet delicate and feminine, Kaimin intentionally de-emphasizes gender boundaries, allowing her signature love for abstraction and primeval sexuality to come to the foreground in a playful way. In her search for ‘extreme beauty’, Kaimin explores ideas of fetishism, eroticism and sadomasochism through clothes that dissect and distort the human physique, challenging accepted standards of what clothing should do for the body. For Kaimin, the potency of her work comes in the balance of Yin and Yang, obsessed as she is with creating harmony between two opposites.
